Linocuts

A reduction lino print (or reduction linocut) is a multi-color relief printing technique where a single linoleum block is progressively carved and printed, with the artist removing (or "reducing") more of the block for each color layer. The lightest color is printed first, and subsequent layers of darker colors are printed on top after more of the block is carved away, making the process a "one-block" method that requires careful planning as mistakes cannot be corrected.
